As fatigue sets in and I struggle to write my regular posts, I’ve finally committed to reading and completing the 12-week program from The Artists Way by Julia Cameron. I needed to refresh my creative spirit, reinvigorate my passion for writing, and just commune with someone who had my back. Julia did that for me through this book.
I bought The Artist Way two weeks ago and basically binged it over a few days. Not attempting any of the tasks except Morning Pages and Artist Dates, I just had fun reading and highlighting the copious amounts of wisdom.
After a week of contemplation, I’ve decided to commit to officially start the 12-week program in the new year. Come January 1st, I’m going to reread the chapters and do two of the prescribed Tasks each week. I really want to share my progress with you, so my goal is to post my weekly Check-ins. They’ll cover One Life-changing Lesson, Two Explorative Tasks, and Three Cheap Tricks. Plus links to any helpful resources and articles from other writers also doing The Artists Way.
It will be a big commitment, so I’ll press pause on all the mini-series, except Project 30. Not a Poet is ending anyway. And although I have a number of other mini-series I’m excited to launch, I think it’s wise to wait until after I’ve completed the 12-week course.
If you’re interest in doing The Artists Way in the new year, you are more than welcome to join me. Even if you can’t start at the same time, you can jump in at any point. I have a sneaking suspicion this won’t be the one and only time I do it this year. But let’s see how we go.
Hope you have had a wonderful November and are looking forward to a happy and healthy festive season.
Love, Chloe
